History of the hotel post, vent, oetztal valley
The history of Vent started long before 1241, when the village was first mentioned in a document.
The shepherds always used the succulent alpine pastures around Vent. As far back as in the 15th century our family already managed the ’Weinhof’ - the Hotel Post of today. In the 17th century the first tourists came to the surroundings of Vent to see the fascinating glacial lakes, which were created there from time to time by the advance of the Vernagtferners glacier. From 1860 on the glacier expert and priest Franz Senn lived in Vent. He was a founding member of the Alpine Club and trained the first mountain guides, which basically was the foundation for today’s tourism in the Alps.
